Campaign Name:
MARINET - sub-coordinator Pat Gowen Campaign

Objective:
MARINET is the Marine Environmental Information Network. It campaigns to protect and maintain the marine and coastal environment of the UK. through education, persuasion and campaigning. The main issues, which vary over time, are identified by the membership itself.

Description of Campaign:
MARINET forms a part of Friends of the Earth (FOE) to cover marine and coastal issues. Membership is open to FOE Local Groups, individuals and non-FOE environmental organisations . Norwich FoE is one such local group member. MARINET is a voluntary network run by people like you, and its aim is to provide comprehensive and updated information by which to help members to act co-operatively so that they can assist one another with their interests and concerns.

What you can do?
By offering information, advice and support to individuals and groups concerned with marine and coastal and impacts. The main issues currently cover the damaging impacts of Marine Aggregate Offshore Dredging, Bathing Water pollution, the governments damaging 'Managed Retreat' policies, the Shoreline (mis)Management Plan, Coastal Defences, the Marine Bill, Marine Reserves, marine derived renewable energy and much more.

A mass of information on the Marine Environment and the dangers presented to it are to be found by visiting the MARINET Website www.marinet.org.uk As this site is now very large and packed with information, it is advised to first identify the area of information required on the home page index. A Google type search facility is provided enabling a search by placing in the key word(s) relative to your need.. You will find a membership form if you wish join MARINET. Membership is free of charge, but any donations to help running the organisation, by providing communications, postings, telephone costs, funding travelling to surveys, and providing talks are more than welcome.
